bebe shower

Bonjour bebe Steele!  Our dear friends are expecting their first daughter, here's a little shower I threw in their honor.  The theme was parisian and the colors were pink and black.  Check out my pinterest board used for inspiration. And as usual pretty much everything was upcycled (its merely an obsession on mine)!

a couple of birthdays

I really can't believe this adorable little man is already one!  Remember the waiting game here.

My sis-in-law made these cute cupcakes with sun bathing teddy grahams. Ha!

Check out this awesome banner with a picture from every month of his first year.  Great idea.

Seashell cake balls in a beach bucket, love it!

Auntie and Unk's gift for the little guy, thought I would share this pinterest inspired wrap job. Hand crafted fabric flower and yarn.

And this adorable guy here just turned 30!

We threw a plaid themed party at our local favorite restaurant.  I used a ton of recycled materials as well as some pinterest inspirations.  It was an all around fabulous night!

I made this denim runner from our old jeans that were destined for the thrift store.

Penant plaid banner. Can you guess which one is made from recycled boxers?!

Cupcakes from Elizabethan Desserts.  I made the little flags for an extra plaid kick.

The tent was mr. roundys gift from me.  I couldn't resist making him open his gifts inside the tent!

Oh and here are our diy invitations!

what we've been eating

{mounds bar} This one was a little labor intensive... but SO WORTH the effort.  Original recipe via pinterest can be found here.

the nourishing gourmet

{tofu banh mi}  Banh Mi's have simply taken over our neighborhood in San Diego.  It seems every amazing restaurant in our small suburb called North Park has a variation of this sandwich on the menu.  Due to our new outlook on meat, we have yet to try the original version calling for pork.  Using tofu in this recipe peaked my attention, and when I saw the Sriricha sauce on the ingredients list I knew this sandwich would be delicious.  And goodness it is!  Thank you eat, live, run for yet another amazing recipe.

{buttermilk-blueberry breakfast cake} Sometimes you just need something to get you through the morning, especially at work.  This breakfast cake worked for mr. roundy.  Recipe found on alexandra's kitchen.

{berry mascarpone pancakes} Well hopefully you realize we didn't make these recipes all in one week.  We made these pancakes for dinner one night, the sauce is particularly yummy!  Thank you picky cook for the recipe.

{black bean tacos with feta and cabbage slaw} Due to an accidental purchase of a head of cabbage at the farmers market (meant to get cauliflower, not sure what I was thinking) I had to find a simple recipe that would eat up that all that cabbage.  Thank you once again, picky cook, this recipe will be a new staple in our home.

{maple glazed salmon with roasted brussel sprouts} Yes I sure did save the best recipe for last!  This is simply amazing, make it tonight. period. Recipe found here

p.s. we get our whole grain mustard at trader joes.

valentines tradition

Here's a shot of our yearly tradition, originally talked about in this post.  We've traded off filling this box of See's candy since 2005!  The mr. took the turn this year.  And even though you are expecting it; it still feels special.

halloween s'mores

Pin'd it and Did it!  First holiday at my new job, time to reward the team with a little spooky treat.  Thank you Pinterest for the inspiration photo you see here.

1. To start be sure to get the Honey Maid Fresh Stacks!  They are wrapped in smaller packages and it will save you the hassle of breaking the bars in two.

2. Next up you need your marshmallow ghosts made by Peeps.

3. Lastly don't forget those mini Hershey's bars.

4. Place them in your cellophane bag like so.

And there you go, a cute spooky treat with a creative twist.  Trust me the reaction is worth the effort, I was even asked if I made the marshmallow ghost! uh no.

p.s. Target was my one stop shop for the ingredients in this post, including the polka dot cellophane bags.  The ribbon was however upcycled.
